Probation for two Baton Rouge residents after guilty pleas in conspiracy case

Two Baton Rouge residents have pleaded guilty to drug-related offenses with which they were charged after allegedly plotting to smuggle drugs in to imprisoned rapper Torence "Lil Boosie" Hatch during the time he was Dixon Correctional Institute. Hatch himself is serving time for drug offenses, though he has since been moved to a different facility.

The two, a 27-year-old woman who was at one point romantically involved with Hatch and a 29-year-old former Dixon Guard, pleaded guilty Tuesday.

The 27-year-old woman was charged with intent to distribute codeine and marijuana, conspiracy to distribute codeine and introduction of a contraband into a penal institution. In her case, the contraband was synthetic marijuana.

The 29-year-old man pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge of interfering with a law enforcement investigation.

The 27-year-old woman will be on supervised probation for five years. The 29-year-old man will be on unsupervised probation for six months.

Hatch is now in Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola after he pleaded guilty in November to trying to smuggle ecstasy, marijuana and codeine into the Angola and Dixon prisons. He had been serving time at Dixon since 2009, when he pleaded guilty to his third offense of possessing marijuana.
